These words of Jesus remind us that his Word is the Word of God. It tells people about their heavenly Father and the Savior he has sent. That Word has the power to create saving faith. When faith is created in the heart of a person, that person has (present tense) eternal life. He becomes alive spiritually, and that spiritual life will continue eternally in heaven. When it comes to judgment, a person’s relationship to Jesus determines the verdict. Through faith in Jesus people have forgiveness.
